Arcana calculator: find your birth card
Add up your date of birth the way tarot readers do and you land on one of the 22 Major Arcana cards. Many dates give a pair: a visible theme and the root card beneath it.
Method
How to calculate your personal arcana
- Write your date of birth as digits: 15 May 1990 becomes 1 9 9 0 0 5 1 5.
- Add every digit: 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 + 0 + 5 + 1 + 5 = 30.
- If the total is above 22, add its digits again: 3 + 0 = 3. Stop as soon as the total is 22 or below. That number is your personal arcana, here card III, The Empress.
- If the result has two digits, add those digits to find the paired card: 12 (The Hanged One) pairs with 1 + 2 = 3 (The Empress). 19 runs through three cards: The Sun, Wheel of Fortune (1 + 9 = 10) and The Magician (1 + 0 = 1). A total of exactly 22 is The Fool, numbered 0 in the deck, paired with The Emperor (2 + 2 = 4).
Some tarot books add the month, day and year as whole numbers (5 + 15 + 1990) instead of single digits. The final single-digit card always matches, but the two-digit card can differ, so check which method a source uses.
Numerology & tarot
Is Life Path and Arcana the same?
No, but they come from the same digits. Both start by adding every digit of your birth date. The numerology Life Path keeps reducing until it reaches 1–9 and keeps 11, 22 and 33 as master numbers. The tarot birth card stops as soon as the total is 22 or below, because the Major Arcana has 22 cards. So your arcana and your Life Path share a root: a date that totals 30 is Life Path 3 and Arcana 3, The Empress; a date that totals 29 is Life Path 11 and Arcana 11, Justice, paired with 2, The High Priestess.
Major Arcana
What is my arcana number?
Your arcana number is the Major Arcana card your birth date reduces to, from 1 to 22. Readers treat it as a long-term theme rather than a daily message: the main card describes how that theme tends to show up, and the paired card the root lesson underneath. Like any tarot reading, it is a prompt for reflection, not a fixed fact about who you are.

Common questions
Which tarot card is my birth card?
Add every digit of your date of birth, then add the digits of the total until it is 22 or below. That number is your birth card in the Major Arcana; a total of 22 is The Fool.
Why do I have two birth cards?
When the total has two digits, adding those digits gives a second card, and the two are read as a pair: 15, The Devil, pairs with 6, The Lovers. Only 19 gives three cards: The Sun, Wheel of Fortune and The Magician.
Is my arcana the same as my Life Path number?
Not always. Both start from the same digits, but the Life Path reduces to 1–9 (keeping 11, 22 and 33), while the birth card stops at 22 or below. The single-digit root of the two always matches.
Can a birth card predict my future?
No. Arcana uses birth cards as a symbolic prompt for reflection, not as a forecast or a substitute for professional advice.
