One year · one place in the cycle

Find your Personal Year number

A Personal Year places one calendar year inside a repeating nine-year cycle. Use it as a planning prompt: a way to ask what deserves emphasis now, not a forecast of what must happen.

Birth date and target year

Your birth date is used only in this browser and is not stored.

Formula

Birth day + birth month + target year

Add every digit and reduce to a number from 1 to 9. This calculator does not preserve 11, 22, or 33 because the Personal Year cycle is read through nine positions.

24/07 · 2026 → 2+4+0+7+2+0+2+6 → 5

This is the calendar-year convention. The result is a theme for reflection, not an event forecast.

How a Personal Year differs from a Life Path

A Life Path uses the complete birth date and is treated as a long-term theme. A Personal Year combines the birth day and month with one specific year, so it changes through the cycle. One number does not replace the other; they answer different questions.

Use it for planning, not prediction

A Year 8 does not guarantee a promotion, and a Year 9 does not require a relationship to end. Circumstances, choices, and verifiable information matter more than a symbolic interpretation.

Common questions

How is a Personal Year calculated?

Add the digits of your birth day, birth month, and the year you want to explore, then reduce to 1–9. The calculator displays the full working so you can check it.

Does a Personal Year start on January 1 or on your birthday?

Arcana uses the calendar-year convention beginning January 1. Some traditions describe a transition around the birthday; that is an interpretive difference rather than a change in the arithmetic.

Can a Personal Year predict events?

No. A number cannot guarantee that an event will occur. Use the yearly theme as a planning question and test it against your actual circumstances.
